Shooting at Dallas Love Field captured on video, officer praised for saving lives
DALLAS – Video from inside Dallas Love Field shows the moment a woman opened fire in the terminal and the officer who arrested her.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said investigators learned it was an Uber driver who dropped Portia Odufuwa, 37, off at the airport.
She then changed into a bathroom and emerged with a handgun in her hand. She yelled about her marriage, her incarceration and said she was going to blow up the place, police said.
Security video shows her firing three bullets into the ceiling before being shot in the leg by police.

Chief Garcia said Officer Ronald Cronin was nearby when it happened and immediately engaged Odufuwa. The chief said he was very proud of his officer’s actions.
“In situations like the one we had at Love Field yesterday, our men and women have to be warriors too. That’s what Officer Cronin was. He didn’t hesitate to engage, succeeding to give orders to potential victims trying to guide them to safety even after being involved in the most traumatic scenario of our beloved profession,” he said. “I know his actions have saved lives. lives and prevented further injury.”
Odufuwa underwent surgery for her leg injury and was charged with aggravated assault on a public official. Other federal charges are possible.
Police said she had a criminal history including bank robberies and arson. She was also taken into custody at Love Field in 2020 and taken for a mental health evaluation.
“Of note, the suspect has been prohibited from dealing with a firearm since August 2018,” Garcia said.
Police are still working to determine where they obtained the handgun used in Monday’s shooting.
