Officers and medics honored after rescuing 25-year-old found stabbed from serious injuries at Harvard

Two police officers and three medics have been recognized after rescuing a 25-year-old man found stabbed at Harvard on New Years Day.
The Harvard Police Department responded at 1:24 a.m. on January 1 at the 200 block of South Jefferson Street in Harvard for a hang-up call to 911.
Harvard Deputy Police Chief Tyson Bauman said dispatchers received a report of an unknown injury where one person was bleeding.
Officers arrived and found a 25-year-old Harvard man inside a residence with a severe laceration in his leg.
Officers immediately provided life-saving medical attention until medics from Harvard Fire Protection District arrived to take over, Bauman said.
The man was taken to a local hospital and his condition stabilized, Bauman added.
Police believe the man was stabbed by someone else. Police have yet to announce an arrest.
On Thursday, Mercyhealth officials presented an award to Harvard Police Officer Demink, Officer Tobias, Harvard Fire Protection District Paramedic, Firefighter / EMT Barnett and Firefighter / EMT Harter for their rescue actions that morning.
Bauman said the case is still under investigation and more details will be released soon.
