Craig Hill, owner of Landscapes for Learning Ltd, presented the Dragons with the hope of a £50,000 investment in return for a 15% stake in his business.

The company designs, manufactures and sources outdoor educational resources for children.

Mr. Hill said of the company’s inspiration: “We increasingly live in a society where children spend a lot of their time staring at a screen.

“My goal as a former teacher and father of three is to get kids outside, explore the world around them, and experience life, while facilitating learning through play.”

He even invited the Dragons to test the products he had brought with him, including a seesaw, an offer to which the five investors accepted.

He said: “My daughter had an accident where she fell into a fire. She kind of ran towards me in flames and I had to put her out. Both my hands caught fire.

“It just ruined me, I couldn’t deal with it.

“She’s in good shape now, she’s rebounded. She is proud of her scars.

The Dragons were moved by Mr Hill’s story and how he turned his life around to create a business he says has made £185,000 in revenue since 2017 with a gross profit margin about 49%.

Deborah Meaden and Jenny Campbell expressed admiration for Mr Hill but declined to make an offer, saying they were ‘outs’.

Peter Jones countered Suleyman and Lalvani’s joint bid with an offer to invest the full £50,000 in exchange for 30% of the business.

Mr. Hill chose to accept Jones’s offer and left the Den with the investment he had hoped for.

Lalvani said he was “so happy” to see Mr Hill come out of the den with a deal.
