ATHOL – In-person banking during the COVID-19 pandemic has not been easy. For many weeks, banks in the region have been forced to close their doors to the public over concerns over the spread of the virus. But through a new partnership with ACI Worldwide, Athol Credit Union will provide its members with a new online bill payment service that enables cash payments through a network of more than 60,000 participating retailers. According to a press release, this new service will allow members to make loan payments securely while expanding the options available to those who wish to make cash payments.
Over the next few months, ACU will integrate ACI Speedpay into its existing online banking system. This software will allow ACU members to make loan payments online using a computer or mobile device, reducing the need to visit the branch in person or pay fees. port to send a check. Starting this fall, ACU will be rolling out ACI moBills, allowing members to make cash payments at local retailers. This easy-to-use app produces a barcode on the member’s smartphone which is scanned by the retailer, allowing the retailer to easily process a cash payment for a loan on the spot. ACI moBills integrates with other mobile wallet systems like Apple Pay to provide even faster access to the cash payment process.
âWe are proud to present this new option to our members,â said Courtney Fifield, President and CEO of Athol Credit Union. âOur goal when introducing new technologies is to make banking easier for our members. This new service allows our members who wish to pay their ACU loans in cash to do so wherever they are. It’s about banking at your own pace, not ours. “
âACU enhances the experience for its members through the convenience of online and mobile channels,â said Sanjay Gupta, executive vice president of ACI Worldwide. âWith ACI Speedpay, ACU members can pay their bills on the go, either digitally or through digitized cash payments, ensuring a more seamless bill payment experience regardless of their location.
The introduction of this new payment system comes in the wake of ACU’s rollout of a new website offering easy access to the services provided by ACU.
âWhile we want to make sure our institution keeps pace with technological advancements, we also want to make sure we don’t leave anyone behind. We are here to provide financial services to our entire community, including those who wish to continue to visit us in person, âsays Fifield. “We want to be as modern as possible, but not at the expense of losing limbs.”
